Here is a pic of some drakes I shot this morning beside a Standard colored drake deke and a drake deke I have modified slightly

You will see our hybrid Mallards are very dark on the back, also heads are very dark but not always green

I was wondering why some of your dekes were painted black on the backs... I guess that answers my question.

Those are some different looking ducks you have over there.

Very neat, I didn't know that they were that different.

That was definitely a good modification on your part. Those are some odd looking mallards.

That's the way to modify to match the situation. Great job. Thanks for sharing.

Ditto...attention to details can pay big dividends as evidenced by the photos you submit of your bag limits.

Are they in early plumage right now?

Apart from the full bodies have you been using any of the avery mallard shell decoys yet? if so how do you find them versus the full bodies (love the floaters). Might be time to retire the ole shell decoy set up you helped me organise a few years back. Have you given up on spinner decoys or are you still using them with a modulator, or remote?

PS I was following your progress regarding building a long range deer gun on the reloaders forum. Have you had something built yet?

Cheers

John

How has the duck season been going over there thus far? Are you guys getting the results that you have come to expect? Please keep us updated on your hunts.

Good Hunting!

Have you ever shot a banded duck there?
