Have you guys ever painted a blind a very dark brown, or black to match a chisel plowed field? I an gettin a new finisher for 50 bucks, and I was thinkin bout painting my old finisher a very dark brown. What color should I use? Or should I just leave it in shadow grass. I really dont like gettin my hands full of mud every time we hunt these types of fields.

I did just that. I went to Wal-Mart, and got some of the ultra flat brown and black...in the camo colors they have there.
There is two different way to do it. You pick.
1. First spray blind with black....and then brown,
2. Spray both colors @ the same time as they will blend as the mix and fall on the blind.
Or the method....LOL :-), just leave it camo.
Doing the methods I listed and there are probably a few more, my blind blended in super.
Good luck.

I think up here you are looking at more of a gray color. If I were you, I would just take some dry dirt and see what matches best. You may even have to option for them to color match it for you.

Rick is dead on. Get a clod and match it the best you can. The color of soils can very greatly across a field. I hunt heavy clays that are very dark and I also hunt in some very light sands. Just find a good average representation of your soils.

I would suggest painting the blind and then when the paint is wet, actually sprinkle some soil from you area on the blind. I matches well and works awesome.

Im with you on that one Rick, everything around here is so dry and light in color. Natural Gear is the best camo ever for waterfowl around here. If we hunt fields where they have spread manure, we set our blinds in there everytime. It is probably one of the best ways to hide a blind out here, besides Nat Gear!!

If you decide to paint your blind I would make sure you don't go too dark...It is a lot easier to make a light colored blind dark then a dark colored blind light. I have painted a few layouts and I think it is the way to go, after you paint them the mud will stick a lot better to the blinds. However, you will never have a perfect match for all fields so you will still be mudding your blinds but maybe not as much. Good luck, have fun with it, and make sure you to post some pictures if you decide to do any custom jobs!

I have also heard of guys using spray adhesive and then throwing dirt at it. You want to make sure that the dirt is dry so it sticks good.
