The Outdoor Writers of Canada 2007 Annual Convention was held at North
Bay, Ontario June 6 – 9, 2007. On Saturday evening, the National Outdoor
Communications Awards were presented. Avery Outdoors Pro-Staffer Michael
Hungle was awarded 2nd place in the Ducks Unlimited Wetlands Appreciation
Category for his article “The Land of Living Skies” that was published in
The Ducks Unlimited Conservator Magazine Volume 27, Number 3.
This annual competition recognizes and rewards excellence in outdoor
communication and promotes craft improvement. The Wetlands Appreciation
Award was judged on the following criteria:
• Contribution to an increased understanding of the wetland conservation
ethic
• Contribution to an increased awareness and understanding of wetland
value to people and or wildlife
• Presentation and clarity
• Initiative, effort and creativity
