My dad bought one to put on one of those little 10' 2 man plastic boats and he hated it. It wouldn't even push it. He traded it for a used yamaha 3 horse and was much more pleased. This is the only experience I have heard.

I have one I use, there a sturdy little platform that does what it should. They are air cooled so they are louder than a regular outboard but no impellers to clug when churning muck. Parts can be easily found at a briggs dealer. It pushes my 12ft shallow V to plain with a moderate load. We have used it on a 14 footer and it gets it done but with a heavy waterfowling load it will not plain. I like mine, if you can find a good deal I would go for it!

I don't know if it matters, but I heard that they aren't made for saltwater. I am to suspect that that means brackish as well.
