I have the Hercules pocket rocket and I haven't really taken a good look at it's guts. All I can say is that even in the coldest wettest conditions last season this thing never failed me. All of my other calls did, all of em. That included, Zink PH poly carb, haydels, duck commander, and some others that I can't realy remember right now because I put em in a box and forgot about em. The fact that it doesn't freeze up makes me want to carry one every day of the season, regardless of the weather.

You're not supposed to be asking this, you're a fan of a different brand! :D Just kidding Al, it is a patented design from Buck, to achieve the spit proof call, Buck cut the toneboard on the insert with a slight slant to it, so that the reed (when the cork is installed), will actually be thrown up alittle from the toneboard, so when you do call into it and do get moisture in the call, that moisture will actually help pull the reed down where it should be, thus the saying "It's better when it's wetter", the call may sound alittle horse on a single reed until you "wet tune" it, this means simply getting it wet with moisture from blowing some, or taking the insert and slobbering it up real quick once and then you're good to go, if it drys out, simply do it again. Awesome design and a great craftsmanship on the calls, what a combination! As stated in the previous post, NOT one issue with sticking calls all of last season, a huge difference from the previous calls I used to use! And if for any reason it does have a problem or stick, or if you're not happy with it for any reason, Buck will fix it, replace it, or give you your money back, now THAT is customer service!! Also, if you have a problem with your call while during hunting season, Buck will overnight the call back to you free of charge, WOW! All of these reasons are why I am proud to represent this company. And Buck has a call to fit overone's budget, great acrylic duck and goose calls, to the best poly calls in the industry. Heck you can get a poly Pocket Rocket spit tech call for $40, and it will do anything an acrylic call can do and it has the same great spit tech warranty as the acrylics! So you don't have to spend a fortune to get an awesome call! These new Sorta-singles are awesome as well!

Matt, I was curious as to how the spit-tech were made as well. I have yet to see one at Scheels or Sportsman's here in Des Moines. I would guess they'll get some in before season starts, though.

I think the new sorta singles are going to be my new go to. I was blowing mine last night. It is the best of both worlds. I love that little call.
