Have you guys ever thought about making a feeding goose decoy. Like a goose butt or something. Just thought it would be good idea for early season in the shallows.

Do you use these a lot? I'm curious, how many goose hunters use goose butts? Seriously we want to know.

Travis, I use them quite a bit actually. The white on the butts are great for visibility.

Early season I throw a few out. They seem to work great if you throw a few around in your spread.

I use them for geese, pintails, wigeon, and mallards. The white on the geese, pins and wigeon is a great attention getter more so if used with a jerk string.

in almost every water set up. Realism, a relaxed look to the spread , and the white ass is great for a visibilty tool. why wouln't yah?

Goose Butt-Ups, Goose No-Head Feeders and drinkers/skimmers.
Not only in Canadas, but Specks, Snows and Blues.
The reason most folks don't use certain poses of decoys is because there aren't alot available. Most in brands that no one wants to buy. Folks will buy them if they are done like Avery can do them.

I think a couple of goose butts would be a great addition to a water spread/rig.

I can see it is something we obviously need to get done. If we do, it will be a 2008 deal.

First thing I thought when I saw this topic was "Silly rabbit, goose decoys don't need to be fed."
Glad I could help.

Agreed butt-up goose feeders would be a great addition to any water setup.

Hopefully it can be designed so that it rocks back and forth easily, like a feeding goose.

I hunt water for geese often and I always put a goose butt or two out on a jerk cord.

You would be amazed how far the white on the underside of a tipped up goose sticks out. You can see it (and so can the birds) before you can even see the decoys.

Just thinking here but what if the bottom was rounded instead of flat? It seems like that would give it a lot of rocking motion like a feeder needs.

Yeah 1 or 2 of those would make a small refuge spread like mine look awsome!!

These would certainly be a must have. They aren't big but would be highly visible. No head goose feeders would be awesome too!

That would definitely be a great addition. They are a great confidence decoy and for visibility like what some of the guys have said. Just watch a relaxing flock of geese for a few mintues and see what happens. You gonna see that white butt go up.:D

I see a lot of geese dipping to feed and drink where we hunt. I truly believe that they would add a lot of realism to a water rig.
Good Hunting!

I would definately purchase some if available, they would be a great addition to the spread and keep it from looking to much like alot of the cookie cutter spreads out there.

Right now I dont use goose feeders because only a few companies make them and I try to stay away from their products.
If GHG/Avery would make a goose butt, I would definitly get a couple to complaint my floaters.

we usually end up throwing a couple out with one on a jerk string. that would be awesome if GHG made 'em

Very good idea. Certainly a great addition. Bigger than whats out there

If you are going to offer a goose butt then you should also have a surface feeder goose head. Could just be a new head which fits on the existing LS and OS floater bodies.
