I posted on a couple forums regarding this question, so I apologize to those who have already read it, but to those die hards....

Anyone ever hunted from a blind that was portable, and I mean a structural wood blind - not a layout!!?

We are tossing around the idea of making blinds that can be mounted on a snowmobile trailers, or slid off a trailer, from a ATV/UTV/ARGO. The land is in WRP, and a burn is needed every 3 or 4 years. The area is wetland potholes, oxbows, and ponds that flood on 600 acres.

The easy answer is pit blinds, but WRP does not allow pits to be placed on the WRP easement, so we are looking at a better way of having blinds that we don't burn up every 3 years. Disc'ing around them isn't the best option either, since the land is so wet when we burn, we can't get a tractor in to it, plus WRP frowns on disc'ing after initial re-seeding.

We may abandon the structural blind concept, and just go with layouts, or simple cover blinds, since the cover is so thick. It would be nice to have a solid spot that would be dryer, and stable though.

Thanks...

i have seen the cow blinds that are portable, so that will work, just get mesh wire and weave in sticks and grass and put four metal posts in each corner on the inside and then carry it in. you can put a roof and a door on but thats your choice.

A guy I used to hunt with made floating blinds and when we needed to move them we just hooked them up to a tractor and pulled them out. WE used to drag them from one hot spot to another across the feilds and if they broke loose from the anchor during flooding and ended up in the middle of a feild we just used the tractor to move them back to were we wanted them. All that would be needed is a long section of chain to run from dry ground to the blind.

I currently have skid blinds that can be pulled by a UTV or tractor, also floating blinds, that we put on trailers and pull them out with tractors, and permanent blinds that we let the weeds grow around never move, also layout blinds. I personally use my layout blinds the most. My skid blinds came from Arkansas Duck Blinds, and my floating blinds we built.

For something that you want to be portable I would say go with layout blinds, because you can go where the ducks are! I like the layout blinds because if the ducks are not around the blinds then I will go to them, if they are in the middle of the field or close the edges, a layout blind will work!

A bale blind may be an option...
