I see alot of you guys on here talking about jerk strings. I was wondering if anyone could share how you made your jerk strings. I have used them before but for the most part they were permanent. I am looking for a more portable jerk string setup. Any advice would be helpful.
Thanks,
Marshall

I use that "Jerk -a- spreader" setup... You can buy everything in one box.

This is the one I have. I wish it would show a picture of it, but it doesn't. Very simple design.....bungee-like cord connected to actualy pole, then I think it has 60 ft of cord. There are 3 clips on the cord, but you could tie more on if you wanted. I typically put a decoy on the first and last clip, so that there are 2 decoys moving but they're far enough apart so that they move a good area of water. You could make one easily if you wanted, but for that price IMO you might as well just buy one that's ready to go.
Have you ever used a wing magic? I don't use mine a whole lot (mostly hunt big water so I have movement), but if it's super calm I use mine. It does the trick sometimes....water and wing movement at the same time....here's a link.

Here is where I purchased mine from and also use the spreader. Also if you would like to add sting you can purchase it from this sight also.

Jerk a spreader here.
Just a long line with large swivel clips with a bungee cord attached to the end with an anchor. You can purchase a small anchor used for tube fishing for the end anchor. I wind the cord onto a board (with a V on the ends), the spreader dekes stay attached and are just picked up and dropped into a decoy bag with the everything but the anchor.
I know others swear by the mojos out there. Don't get me wrong, I own a few myself....some days they work sometimes they're best left behind. The jerk string never seems to fail me though.
Give it a tug and let it go....looks like a dz birds swimming....works great.

I just use mine in shallow water. I stick a pvc pole about 2-3' long with an eyebolt screwed through it. I attach about 6' of black bungee cord to it and then my first decoy. I then put about a 2-4' chunk of tanglefree or GHG pvc cord and attach to my second decoy. I then run more pvc cord to the blind where I have about a 1-2' section of pole with another anchor bolt attached below the water surface right at waters edge. Then I run the cord to the blind and tug whenever I need to. I use decoy snap swivels to attach everything and the good thing is I can attach as many decoys as I want. Just makeup another section of cord with snaps on both ends.
