Hey guys,
Just wondering if alot of you guys got any of these.. I was takin a look on cabelas and the prize is good.
the only problem, im thinking of only getting a dozen, and they don't mix active and feeders. My goose spread is small, like 2 doz full bodies and no mallards. so i want to buy some field ducks. Do I get actives or feeders? or none? I don't no much about the full body mallards..
whatever, let me know, thanks.

I would take the feeder pack. But the best deal would be the Fb harvester pack..

In my mind the best thing2 do is just buy a harvester pack because they have resters, feeders, and actives.

ya, no doubt about it the harvester pack would be ideal. but im not looking to spend that kind of money. i think the shells would get things done.
People tell me to get a doz actives, because ducks will see them before feeders plus they all have their heads up when ducks are about to land anyways. i dunno. gimme ur thoughts

You will land birds closer and land them more often with Feeders! Feeders are a relaxed look and it will tell live birds that there is feed and PLENTY of it! If they see a bunch of ducks on the ground with their heads up = that will tell them something is wrong... They will not commit to your spread like they should! Remember, relaxed look is ideal, and try to stay away from an "All Active" spread...
So, having said that, I would go with feeders over actives any day of the week....

I would match what I see when I scout... But, if your unable to scout; set the decoys according to the wind, and I would spread em out in warmer weather and put them close together in cold weather.
I will post up a picture of what I'd do here in a second... Stay tuned!
Here you go:

We finished plenty of ducks using my lifesize floating mallards in a field last year. Yeah, we felt kind of stupid using water decoys in a field, but they worked. The point is, either all feeders or all actives will work for all but the wariest birds.

We currently have 1 dozen of both actives and feeders. I would go with the dozen feeders this year. The nice thing about the actives though that we found is laying them on ice or shorelines and you can also turn the head around to make a rester look. But for the field hunting I would def. go with the feeders this year.

ok thanks guys.. It looks like im gonna go with a doz of the feeders. I was takin a look on cabelas and I came a cross the Sport Plast fullbody ducks. I no crappy decoy, but $35 for 6, is pretty good. any of u guys use these?

I got a dozen of the feeders this year, and plan on putting them to use. I like the relaxed look it gives the spread. Its nice to throw in some duck decoys to the spread, but as Mallardbreath mentioned before both will put ducks to your spread. I have finished flocks of mallards and black ducks to fields with no duck decoys at all. But having some sure wont hurt.
