I have been putting the avery motion cones in most of my Bigfoot originals this summer and recently tried a feeder. The decoy balanced fine but the head dips down too low because the stakes aren't high enough to give it the proper clearance. I have a few ideas churning on how I can add length to the stakes but was wondering if Avery makes longer ones or if I could get some cut with about 4-5" more length to them specially. Im sure the latter would be tough but want to know who I could contact to get this done possibly. Thanks

if you take some 1/2 inch pvc pipe and cut it at an angle and make it 6 or 8 inches long you can stick the pvc into the ground and put the motion stakes into the pvc. using this method we have used our full bodies in as much as 4 ft of water. experiment with the idea. hope it works for you. good luck..chuck

Have you tried the ring bases on the feeders? They might work a little better than the stakes, because they don't have to push in the ground.

Sounds like a good working solution...thanks!

If you don't want to mess with anything, do as Curt suggested and use the ring bases.

Can you buy the ring bases seperately...They are for Bigfoots and I have never seen them in stores....Matt

you can buy the ring bases seperately but i honestly dont think you would have enough room yet for a big foot. What chuck said is probably what you are going to have to do. and also idk how well a bigfoot would balance.

They balance fine but as I said, the feeder's heads dip down too much for the regular stakes...I almost am at the point where I want to cut of the fiberglass part of the motion stake and reinsert a longer dowel in replacement because the pvc is not a reasonable alternative to do every morning in a cornfield even though I appreciate the ideas. Thanks, Matt
The motion cones are great. I bought the ring bases too in hopes that they would work but they don't (on feeders).
Several things you can do:
Go to a hardware store that sells welding supplies and metal, buy some steel rod... (I bought it at Tractor Supply). Get the 1/4" or 3/8" rod - can't remember so gauge it with the fiberglass stake but get the same size! We bought the cheap rolled stuff ($3 for 4'?). The rod comes in 2', 3' and 4' sections. We bought the 4' and cut it in half (24") at an angle with bolt cutters, saw. Pull the little pin out of the side of the limiter and then pull the fiberglass rod out of the limiter. Glue the rod into the limiter.
Or, cut the fiberglass rod about mid-way but leave enough so that some rod extends out of the decoy. Add a section of 1" hardwood dowel about (edit: the total length of the dowel should be about 1', drill holes 2" deep in each end - that gives you = 6-8" long. Drill hole in each end, make sure the go in straight. Glue limiter section of rod into one end, the "pointed" end into the other. Paint the wood black. You can do this with the ring bases too. This is much easier than welding an extra section to the ring bases... unless you are a welder then it may be fun!
The dowels add to it by looking like legs. Good luck!

They are 3 bucks a per base. If you are getting a bunch, the shipping will add up real quick. We got 10 doz of em, and that was like 85 pounds worth of shipping! So make sure you get enough, but remember the weight!

Good post RWE, thanks for the ideas...I can tell you ran into the same dilemma as me and had to improvise....My motion stakes are the newer ones and dont have the pins so Im stuck to cutting I think.

Cutting - I like that option anyway as the painted dowel adds the illusion of legs. Start longer than you think you need, you can always cut down. Good luck!
