I had some free time tonight and decided to put this one together. It takes a while to paint a wood duck even without a lot of detail. I will probably add a bit more later when I have time. The paint isn't the best, but it should do the trick. I will probably even make a couple more, since one is hardly a good test of how it will work. It is dark outside, so no outdoor pics.
I have seen quite a few woodies around in the early season, so it will just be a matter of getting the decoys near the water and seeing what happens.
I am still not sure that GHG should make them though, since there may not be a great mass market.

The paint is mix of what I had on hand. The green is acylic Kelly Green from a tube. The brown is left over from a Herter's mallard paint kit. I also put a coat of the Herter's mallard head green over the other green. The rest of the colors or just acrylic paints from a craft store. I think it looks a bit shiney from the flash on slightly wet paint.
I pieced it together from parts I had laying around. I am sure if GHG made one it would be much better.

Looks like he used an Eberhart pintail body and a Flambeau wood duck head. Nice work.

Now you just have to bring your drill so you can mount him to a log....
Great work!

It is a solid foam head.
Any chance on GHG making a FB Wood Duck? Of course, I realize there are probably twenty decoys ahead of them in line to make. Although, Wood ducks are the #2 duck harvesed in the Mississppi and Atlantic Flyways just behind mallards.
