Well I had a good hunt over the new decoys I just bought, so I figured I would share my successes of the first hunt:
Well...
we were up at 3a.m. and set up by 5:45 and with shooting time at 6:03 all was quiet. By 6:10 we had 3 woodies in the bag. At about 6:20 we 'had' a hen woodie in the bag however we let her be in the decoys because she was not moving at all, we looked and she had disappeared. I guess she came back to life and apparently dove and wrapped herself up. We never found her, and I hate to lose her but we put in some time looking. We also manage a nice hen green wing teal that my buddy took at about 7yds as it hovered over my new Mojo!
It was an awesome morning. Tomorrow should be just as nice.
The day way made complete in the afternoon. Three of us went out to a freshly cut corn field and had a flock of about 100 geese descend on us at once. When there were about 12-15 perfectly centered in the kill hole at about 15yds I called the shot. Unfortunately we seemed to pick the same birds and only dropped three as two of them were shot by 2 people each At least they were dead.
It was an awesome way to end a great opener!
