I just started duck hunting this year (love it by the way) and was wondering if hunting during pretty strong winds results in alot of birds in the air. Obviously if your blind location has the wind at your back, you are in good shape. I was just wondering if bird activity is higher when it is windy. Thanks.

It all depends on what area you hunt. If you live in an area where there is a lot of migrating birds then high North winds could bring in a lot of birds from the North. Heavy winds cuase birds that would hangout on points or in more open water areas to move to areas that are more protected. So Yea, winds do make birds move a little more. But it really all depends on the spot you are hunting. If you have a lot of birds coming to your spot then the wind really dosen't matter. Winds make a lot of ripples so spreads look quit a bit more realistic.

I agree...seems like the birds like to move more, from what I've seen...and they seem to like the calm side of the lake...unless they're divers. If your hunting in a field with strong winds, its the best, the birds couldnt come in slower!
