I couldn't get the best pick of the breast, but the white patch it much bigger than a normal mallard neck band. It sure did stand out though.

Not near any parks, was spotted on Lake Michigan. Never heard of a farm duck/black duck mix.

Definately a farm duck. Unless its a dead give away like a mallard/pintail or something obviouse its a park duck. Its no black mallard thats for sure, if it was where would that white patch come from.

I agree,
Maybe a black/park duck mix. One of those infamous Blark ducks. Very rare.

For all of the waterfowl I have seen here, I have counted very few if any park ducks. Our park ducks are just big fat lazy mallards that eat white bread and potato chips. Closest farm to where I spotted this bird is a good 30 miles at least. Very few people around here even raise birds on farms. For the most part, its nothing but cows and a few horse farms.

That would be a cool bird to get mounted
"Tamey" aka: farm/park/lake duck.....

If it lands in my spread... it's jerky. Enough said. We had some white geese and canadas with yellow legs decoy into us early season. We suspected canada and tame bird mixes.

Like Phil Robertoson said in one of his movies..."Shoot it, ground check it, ask what it is then ask if you reckon we can eat it"!!!!!!

Not trying to be a smart a#$ but considering ducks migrate thousands of miles 2 times a year, I dont think flying 30miles is going to be an issue. ;)

I agree, but park ducks dont really leave here since there is open water and people feeding them daily. These things rarely even fly across the park ponds much less fly miles.
