well guys today i got a call at 8am seeing if i want to go to jack miners again to help out with some more banding. Of course i was going to, i was up and ready in no time. Well it was a mixture of ducks and geese (not like last time i went when there were only ducks) Well to make things short. We banded over 100 geese (i think 200 or so) and about 400+ ducks. i dont have the exact numbers but there were alot. This time there were about 30-50 wood ducks in the mix, 1 widgeon, and lots of mallards. There were a bunch that already had bands, many had 07 bands but some as old as 03, and some had the 04 100th year aniversary bands (for the ducks) For the geese the oldest band was 13 years old and a bunch of 10 year old geese. There were 2 geese with double bands (1 miner band and 1 Washington band) and then 1 more goose with a U.S band on it. We banded him with a miner band on the other leg. So theres a bunch of old geese with bands and a few with double bands Well it was another good morning. Lots of new bands and a bunch of re-released birds with bands. Good luck guys, hope you get one.

just two pics of the small cage where we rally the ducks and geese into. We got about a third of the whole catch in there at a time. those kids are kids from the jack miner school which is down the road. A few kids came for a quick field trip.

I was trusted with the bands for the smaller birds (such as woodies and teal) :)
