well I could not get a wink of sleep last night I was so excited for the WA opener I finally got to sleep around 11:30 and woke up again at 4:30 when I got out to my spot I could here birds buzzing around but I sat there in my ground force for a few hours and nothing even came in so I packed everything up and left I decided to jump shoot the othe pond but nothing there so I went home. I decided maybe it would be better in the evening so I went out and when I got there I ended up dropping a Green Wing teal and while I was retrieving it more teal kept coming in but that was the only teal I got then a single wigeon came In and I dropped him and then the real action started the mallards and lots of them!!!! they were flying in in singles and pairs and I couldn't reload my gun fast enough then it got dark and I didn't have my dog just my Avery decoy retreiver and the waders I tried to retrieve the birds but couldn't so I called mom and she brought my German Wirehaired Pointer Shooter out and she was retrieving them ducks like crazy the only problem was it was dark and the ducks kept landing and shooter kept getting distracted but she ended up getting all but one I'll pick it up tomarrow morning though. So the end total was 4 mallards 2 drakes 2 hens,1 Green Wing teal, and 1 immature wigeon drake I'll pick up the last mallard tomarrow morning and thats a limit my first ever limit.I hope everyone elses openers went as well as mine did!

Jordan,
The SW opener went great also, lots of shooting in my area. The fog made things pretty tough but when it started lightening up it was crazy. I stuck it out till noon and had my limit of mallards, teal, a pintail and wigeon. I could have limited out on mallards early but I had to choose my shots carefully due to not having a dog and not wanting to lose any shot birds in 4-5' tall grass.
Congrats on your first ever limit. I'm sure there'll be many more to come.

Glad to hear you did well to. I had to be careful not to shoot them over the uncut corn field that surrounds the pond on 2 sides so they had to be right over the pond but it was the best shoot I have ever had got my limit in maybe an hour and a half maybe I didn't even get to sit down I had to keep going and retrieving my ducks and when I had 5 mallards down on the water I knew I was a bit over my head so I had to call my mom to bring the dog up.

Awesome job Jordan. Ours opens next weekend but I don't think Much will be happening. I scouted the lake yesturday where I have been seeing hundreds of woodies and teal along with around a hundred geese and there was nothing. Not even a single woodie. we had a cold front come through wensday and it has pushed our birds out. I was hoping for some early migrater mallards but that hasn't been the case yet. Well wish me luck. Hopefully I can find some birds.
