I bought a dozen full size GHG Mallard decoys last fall. I only had a chance to use them once and we had a good day hunting over a frozen marsh. We cut a small hole in the ice and placed the fullbodies around the hole on the ice. I am looking into buying a couple more dozen.
1. But my question is do I upgrade to fullbodies with a flocked heads or stay with just the basic fullbody? This year we plan on using them alot in our Iowa cornfields.
2. I was also wondering about buying a set of four drake pintail fullbodies to have the visibility of the drake colors to help bring attention to all the decoys. Has anyone tried this approach or just stuck with the mallard fullbodys?
3. Also I thought about buying the Harvester pack, but this pack comes with some sleeper and rester decoys. I am not sure if this is the type of decoy to use in a feeding situation in the field.
4. I do hunt for snowgeese in late November in Missouri. Has anyone mixed mallard fullbodies with snowgeese and good success?

Thanks for any ideas.

I Personally love the harvester pack but if your looking to buy a couple dozen you might go with the shells same decoy bigger quantity and they are cheaper you could buy a dozen feeders and a dozen actives. And get the pintails to they work like a charm!

if you plan on using them in the same situation. (look like resting mallards on the ice, bank, sand bar. etc,..) i would look strongly into the Fullbody resters and sleepers. these decoys are killer!! and using them with floaters adds that much more realism. if not.. try just leaving the bases in the truck and putting your actives straight on the ice. works like a dream!

lets us know how things go.
