I have been watching a field for the last couple of nights and found that there are large amounts of ducks heading to it. I couldn't really tell exactly which field it was, but i had an idea. So i called the landowner and he seemed happy to let me hunt it. So myself and two friends headed out there this morning, and man was it a fun time. The mallards didnt really want to cooperate, and we passed up pintails, and tons of greenwings waiting for the big mallards, but we did take our two woodies each...or so we thought. We counted wrong and still could have shot one more woody, but oh well i guess that'll happen. Finished up with only 8 birds, but it was a great time!

ha, its funny you bring them up, every time we hunt in a flooded field or near water we always talk about them, what are you guys's thoughts on them? I have heard some good things about them, maybe ill have to give one a try.

We have been havin problems finding birds in the fields. Our bean field dried up and they are all on a refuge that is basically in town. Our favorite diver lake has one good point, and with the wind being from the north for the majority of the weekend, we were forced to try a different lake. Of course every hunter in Waseca county was hunting that lake. We saw hardly any birds out there, but the ones we did saw we got into. Finished with only one wigeon and my first ever hooded merganser. If i woulda been on my game for shooting, i shoulda easily killed 4 birds. Two from that wigeon flock and the drake that was with the hen hoody. Oh well, there will be better days for me. Good luck to you man.
