Sloooow but fun

Went out this morning with fellow member Clint Larson. Not too many birds around on our sloughs anymore, so hoperfully more make their way down! We ended up with our first wigeon of the year, and the first hooded merganser ever. I just wish the drake woulda fell too :(

It get s a little disheartening sometimes seeing all the sucess some people have when it is horrible hunting where I'm at. But I will not complain cause this season hasn't started yet. Last year was last year and I am very excited about this upcoming season. But back on the subject, we get lots of hairy heads(hooded mergansers) around here. Better luck next time.

I hear ya, but noone is having success around here right now, so im not too bummed. Oh well a couple weekends from now, should be good, but I got deer hunting next weekend, but it can only get better now!

bull, i know the feeling but good hunting will come and go, you just gotta make the best of it, nice job on those ducks man, they are hens but hey, i bet they still taste the same except for the merganser;)

actually the hairy heads ain't too bad. We have eaten them before. We ate them because we shot them. We figured we owed it to them. They were a little strong but if there isn't anything else flying I'll shoot them again. And eat them too.
