View Full Version : Trying to find Avery products?

Our season starts in a few days. I called 4 different retail and catalog outlets last night looking for Avery products. I can't find about 6 items that are listed in the catalogs including the LS floating mallard sleepers. Mack's even told me that the sleepers were so backordered that it wouldn't do me any good to be put on the backorder list. What gives? I try and support Avery by advertising on my vehicle and wearing your apparel where ever I can. It is a shame that it's almost Thanksgiving and and I have been looking for 2 months for these products and they are not even in the country yet. I am in no way knocking Mack's. It is just a shame that they have chosen to carry the largest selection of Avery products that I know of, and they can't even get them in by Thanksgiving to sell to their customers. Sorry for all the ranting and raving. Just a little frustrated.

Do you have a Sportsmans Warehouse near you? I picked up my sleepers there and they had a ton. We're talking Portland, OR though.

Went to the Sportsman's in Lexington, Ky. yesterday. They had no sleepers and very few of the Avery products on my list. Thanks for the suggestion.

Sportsman's has had a bunch in their warehouse. Did you ask anybody there to look at availability? If their warehouse doesn't have it, they usually can get some in from another store.

Thanks,

Sw has none in there warehouse but you can go to your local store and ask to have some transfered in from other stores! i will take a look tonight to see what stores have the most sleepers. any other items you want me to look for?

No, I would be satisfied with just the sleepers. By the way, I did ask about the sleepers at SW and was told they were all out and didn't know when or if they would have anymore. Just in case you were wondering about a few of the other products I was looking for. I was trying to find a Handler's cap in any color except orange. An Avery canvas cap in KW-1. A new nylon dog collar for my girl in KW-1. These are just a few other things that come to mind right now.

I know my Cabelas in Fort Worth has had several Mallard sleepers on hand already this year. Try calling individual Cabelas stores, ask for their waterfowl specialist, and see what they have.
As far as those other products I would try a dog specialty dealer...go on the sporting dog page and post asking for a good dog product dealer.

Tominator,
Unfortunately your going to struggle with the balance of your requests through SW, simply because SW doesn't carry them. The Sleeper Mallards however should be pretty simple to get. DB1 thanks for your help with this. Let me know if you run into any road blocks.

I thought they would be simple to get the sleepers too. That's why I called Mack's and Cabela's last night , but with no luck.

Some of the caps were messed up when we receive them, so we returned them. They all had to be redone.

As for the KW-1 collars, we haven't made any yet.

Thanks,

Thanks for the help and the replies Rick and everyone else. I only wish Avery and it's retailers would stop advertising products that they can't get, or haven't even been made yet. I know I am like alot of the guys here, in that as soon as I get a waterfowl catalog I start marking products that I would like to have for the upcoming season. Only to find out days before the season starts, that I still can't find them or no one will be getting any anytime soon. I just wish Avery when announcing a new product would give us a better time estimate on when they will be available. Even if that was to mean announcing a new product and telling us it won't be available until summer of 2008, or something like that. At least we wouldn't get our hopes up or start setting money aside for those products for this year. Thanks

Cabela's has the sleeper mallards. Might want to give one of their stores a call. I know the Rogers,mn store has them as I just bought some.

Don't take this the wrong way but can I ask why you waited until a few days prior to needing them before ordering or looking for them? I would agree, however that it seems that they could really bolster their production on a lot of this stuff though and it is frustrating to see the product in MPW catalog only not be able to get it for months.

I have never been impressed with MPW availability on products. That is why I try to stay with Cabelas if at all possible. Problem is they do not carry all of the Avery products and sometimes MPW is the only option.

I have found that Jeff at Webbedconnection has quite a seltion of the aAvery products, especially the "hard to find" stuff. PM him here or PM me and I will send you his cell #.

The Handlers cap is an awesome product, I have been trying since late summer to get one.

As far as the other stuff, I think anything you try to get in KW-1 right now will be tough. I assume the reason is that it is a new pattern and products are kind of trickling in

"It is a shame that it's almost Thanksgiving and and I have been looking for 2 months for these products and they are not even in the country yet." I'm not taking this the wrong way, but if you reread my 1st post you will see that I didn't wait until a few days before the season started.
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give Jeff a try.

Thanks a bunch DB 1. I'll give Sportsmans another try. Maybe I'll talk directly to the manager in that dept. Thanks again.

If they can't help you, let us know. I was in a store yesterday that had both sleeper and no-head feeders in stock.

Thanks,
