Why dont you talk about the different flyways. You could talk about how the prarie pothole region produces most of our ducks. My buddy is doing one as well ans he called ducks unlimited and got a bunch of free stuff to help with his presentation.

Stress biodiversity, and the vulnerability of wetlands. If you want details let me know.

What type of class?

Who is the audience?

Any particular points YOU are wanting to know/learn about or you think would keep the attention of the audience?

Any background on this would be great and I think I would be able to help you out.

The audiance is students ages 18-25
The class is a Communications/Public Speaking

I would like to find something that informs them about how much wetlands is destroyed each year, and in the past till the present.

I also would like to share about how much wetlands is saved by orginizations like DU, Delta ect.

And possibly things that everyone can do to help preserve wetlands.

That helps a lot! I would look into the following: acres (say Circa 1930 to Present), Main cause of loss, the diversity of wetlands vs. other ecosystems (IE Rainforests, prairie, tundra, etc.), EFFECTS ON PEOPLE, siltation issues, critical parts wetlands play in flood pron areas, etc.

I personally (and I know it would be hard being a hunter) would steer clear of hunting issues. The whole "More wetlands means more ducks for us to shoot", which is true, but probably won't go too far with the audience you are speaking to. Let them know how this issue is effecting them!

How that gets you started and let us know how it turns out. I take it this is a college class?

Good luck!!!

When i looked at this very topic, I found some neat info on biodiversity within nesting habitat. Basically, the more diverse the habitat the better it produced. Do a search on Jstor if you have access and you will find tons of everything you need.
