This has been an annual hunt for myself and son and friends for the last 25 years. We normally hunt Southwest Iowa, but the last 10 years we have been hunting the Squaw Creek area in Northwest Missouri. We had a pretty good weekend for ducks. The field we were in was not the best for snowgeese. We used a combination of 2 dozen GHG Full Body Mallard decoys along with 2 dozen Canada shells and 5 dozen snow decoys. Some full bodys (different brand) and some windsocks. For ducks it was great. The weather Friday was cold and clear. With no winds it made the hunting tough. Saturday came with low clouds and spitting snow. It was a perfect day weather wise. We ended up with 16 Mallards on Saturday. We had 5 or 6 bunches of Mallards drop out of the snow and commit to our set up really nice. It seemed like each flock always sent a couple of ducks in early and the rest would follow. It took alot patience to wait for the main bunch to settle into our spread and hopefully make the right call for everyone to shoot. It worked out most of time. I am posting some pics, I hope they turn out ok.
