If you want mallards, pintails, wigeons, teal, shovelers and little geese - Washington

If you want big geese, divers, and puddle ducks - Michigan or Wisconsin.

And if you want everything just go to the central or mississippi flyways!

Iowa!!!...no just kidding. Iowa doesn't seem to care about the waterfowl hunter at all. We have good shoots and all, but nothing like other states!

Florida. Theres something romantic about the prospect of gators hunting you while you're hunting ducks.

You can shoot pretty much all species of ducks here except for sea ducks and blacks. Not to mention a few weird ducks down on the coast...tree ducks, mottle ducks, whistling ducks.....
We also have very large populations of canada, speck, and snow/blue geese in the winter......Sandhill Cranes too!!

I live in St Joseph MO, and I will have to say that our consvertion dept. does a well above average to get great waterfowl resting areas as well as the national wildlife refuge that is in Mound City, plus the mighty MO river helps us out alot, and lets not forget all the corn fields that r flooded and the ones in the hills!!!!!!!!!

I would have to agree with call'em and kill'em. Nebraska has fantastic duck hunting and depending on what you would like to go after depends on the tempature the smaller ducks head out as soon as it gits cold then the green heads come inand we also have some of the best goose hunting around both in the field or on the water. Our problem is that we dont have enough public land that a person can go to, you really need to be hooked up with somebody.<><

Washinton, We've got some of about everything from harli's to snows and at least 7 different subspecies of Canadas to brant and sea ducks to great mallard and diver shooting on the east side, also we've got more pintails than you boys could ever imagine even an occasional euro wigeon (I've shot well over a dozen in the past 5 years) along with coastal bays that are choked with teal and american wigeon. Oh ya and the best part is our season runs for 107 days.

I grew up hunting the little farms and tidal marashes of central and eastern Virginia and it is awful hunting compared to other places. Yes we did kill ducks and we even had some decent goose hunting but to hunt the Rivers it was a rich man's sport because of blind laws and around my home deer clubs leased up all the dairy farms that held the geese. My buddy and I would motor down the Potomac 15 miles in a 16 foot jon with a canoe in tow. Pull into a little inlets and paddle in for miles to get away from the licensed blinds. I say this not to put down VA hunting because its where I learned eveything I know about waterfowling but I had to make a change, I decided to go to college at Dakota State University in eastern South Dakota. This is the best waterfowling the the US, I wouldn't go to school there if it wasn't.

The best state is the one you live in, just look for the opportunity and hunt hard.

CALIFORNIA..... Only if you like 100+ day seasons with no split

7 bag limit on ducks

6 bag limit on geese

I can shoot cinnamon teal in the morning and scoters in the afternoon if I want. Euro widgeon are getting more common, All the pintail you could want, all 3 teal, Honkers and little geese, snows, ross, and specks, also big Tule geese.

It's OK i guess

I agree Derek, and I'm originally from Illinois and have hunted Minnesota, North Dakota, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi and Indiana. The best part is the numbers of birds and the variety of terrain you can hunt, everything from rice fields to stock tanks.

Looks to me like there isn't a "best state". Every state has hot spots, and the Hunters that find them think its the best place in the world. ;)

I love hunting North Dakota so they get my vote. Although Washington sounds really good to me also with that long season.

If you're going to kill stuff, then there is little question.

California kills more ducks than any state in the nation. (that's fact)

So everybody go to California and get crazy on em!! ;)
