I was just wondering where large concentrations of ducks and geese are located in Illinois. Is the central or northern part of the state holding a good number of birds. Here in the southern part we had a push of birds on Sunday. I was just wondering how far away the majority of birds are.

zach for us duck hunters in the north end of the southern zone here in illinois as the way i see it after 28 years of hunting waterfowl as many 70 days out of most the seasons i have hunted from carlyle to baldwin to rend and crab not to forget union county and horseshoe lake which the last two we only hunted when we couldnt get our big boat blinds on the water, the ducks are about done my place is south of carlyle about 20 miles on the river after the 1st of the year we might be lucky to scratch 30 birds and we hunt everyday this late duck season has hurt us all because of poilitics in the disabled qouta zone the only ones benefitting from this are rich boys who can hunt the prime spots down south which might hold 10 to 20000 birds the only ones that can have good hunting in the southern zone are bankers sons and power plant employees kids twenty years ago are maybe more a speaker from the state came to a mississippi valley duckhunters meeting in belleville illinois he stated that if we hunted geese in southern illinois after jan. 1st we would eventually lose the geese in southern illinois so now we need to thank all the good ole boys in southern il. for the hunting we have now because they want to make double money off the farm instead of getting a real job eventuallly the ducks will stop coming to.
