I think everyone has been out on a hunt and killed an oddball duck from time to time.. I always think its kewl to knock down somthing out of the ordinary!!!!

here are a couple I have killed over the last couple seasons..

I thought this was a cross with a wigeon at first, turns out it is actually a really old hen mallard that has started to take on the drake characteristics..

this is a drake mallard i killed on the last day of the season 2 years ago, check out the white wings, thought it was pretty neat!!!

The only hybrid that I have ever killed was a Mallard/Black Duck...But my Dad has killed a Shoveler/Gadwall, Mallard/Pintail, Blue/Speck, Mallard/Black, Blue Wing/Cinnamon, and Barrow/Common Goldeneye.

So is your father Pat? If so I have seen alot more hybrids than what you mentioned in his collection.

Yes Pat is my father, he has killed more than that but I don't have all of those pictures.

Yes, he has quite a collection and is probably more knowledgable of hybrids and ducks in general than most.

I was supposed to go down and see his trophy room last year, but I still havent made it. Headed to arkansas next week, might give him a ring and stop through on my way.

I bet he's away hunting though

All of those hybrids are incredible, but, in my opinion, nothing comes close to a nice Mallard/Pintail hybrid like the one in the last photo. That is one beautiful bird.

I'd love to see more photos of that trophy room!

I don't have a pic but last weekend I came across a mallard/shoveler hybrid. I was going to hunt it in the up coming days but the flock he was in moved on. It had 4 drake pintails, 4 drake mallards, 1 shoveler drake, one greenwing teal drake and the hybrid. No hens in site. I guess it was a bacheler group.

My Dad will be back in Arkansas until the season is over, so you will not catch him at home until February. I'll be at the house during the week but in Arkansas during the weekends.

We get a lot of mallard/black hybrids up my way.

Here's my buddy Murphy with a recent mallard/black hybrid from last weekend.
