Ok, I am sick of people telling me I cant be a pro Staffer. I want to know why? Ok, so I cant do comp calling like most of the hunters on your web sit. I am anot a guide( excuse me for being in the USMC) I once thought pro staffters were guys who used equiptrment in the fielf and gave an honest rating of it. I wouldnt know what to do with an honest pro staffer. Most pro staffers are so stuck on them self's, most of the its all about killing all the birds and not about fun I hope my litte boy who will be hunting with me next year will have a differenteye view of this crap also. \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

I am not butt hurt, but read this
You know what i am saying I dont lick peoples boots for a taste of salt. I am an honest shooter. I might stir the pot to get a different color, In my neck of the woods there seems to be an absence of pro-staffers. Exactly what makes a pro-staffer? I mean someone who can call, someone who is a dog trainer, some one who has the face of a ICON,m who can make Avery money??? Some one who has a Seriously, thought about his target audience
I doubt it, and I probably will get banned for this but come on people. You want some one who tells it like like it is, I dont sugar coat shi!. I am a pro staffer of the USMC. have been for 18 years. Out of the 18 years, I have 4 combat tours, Desert Storm,Somalia,Iraq, Afghistan. If this isnt good to be a prostaffer ,I dont know what is....Oh yeah I am not PC, once you have a bullet fly so close to your mouth youcan taste gun powder there is no room for PC......

Chessie I would sugest that acting like you are now is not the way to get this done. I have been trying for about 2 years now, with no luck. But ranting on the chat forum will not help you get it. Just keep with it!!

First let me Thank you for your service to this country. We wouldn't have what we have today if it wasn't for the fighting men and women in our armed services. That being said, I have met several pro-staffer and they have been nothing but helpful and friendly downhome guys. They didn't act like they were up on a pedistal. I definately think you are going the wrong way with this thread. I would like to be a pro-staffer as well. I haven't filled out an application yet but the reason I haven't is because I am not ready as far as where I am at in the duck hunting community. I have spoken to several staffers on this forum and they have let me know kinda what they are looking for in a staffer. You have to be an up-standing citizen and active in the community Which you most definately are. You need to be able to photograph well as you will be asked for certain product shots and so on. You need to be in an area that can support a pro-staffer as in near large sporting goods stores so you can do demos and so on. You also need a schedule that is flexible enough to allow you to travel and attend events. I no that is not the only requirements but just some. I don't meet all those requirements right now but am working to get there so that I might have the oppertunity in the future of being an avery pro-staffer. I wish you the best of luck with everything and try not to get mad or dissapointed if you don't make it. There are hundreds of others that are in your same shoes. You might try Pming a couple of staffers as I did and find out what you need to do to become one instead of getting mad and spouting off. I didn't mean to offend you if I did and I hope you have a great rest of your season.

Chessiehunter,
Thank you for serving our country Devil Dog. I too have spent my time serving this great country, 1st FSSG, Camp Pendleton, Ca United States Marine Corps. I to have seen combat and it is not fun. You will have to excuse me for saying this, but I am not real sure where you are coming from with this post. Since I am dealing with a fellow Marine who is not afraid to speak his mind, I feel I should be only honest when I ask the question, why should you be a Pro Staffer?
You are not going to like the answer to your questions above but the answer is yes. A Pro Staffer is a person who is of benefit to the company they are going to represent. A Pro Staffer is a person who believes in the product they are representing and knows exactly who their target customer is. Most important a Pro Staffer is a sales person for the company they are representing. Being a Pro Staffer is about being "PC". If a Pro Staffer doesn't know when to keep his opinions to himself, he could damage the reputation of the company he is Pro staffing for. And yes, it is about money.
I understand your frustrations of being told no. I applied to be an Avery Pro Staffer 3 times before being told yes and even applied with Zink calls twice before I was given the position.
I am sorry your opinion of a Pro Staffer is so Jaded. I would be willing to bet that you have never meet an Avery Pro Staffer. I have been lucky to have either worked shows or hunted with a lot of these guys and I can tell you that it is not all about them. I have never walked away from meeting an Avery Pro Staffer and said that he or she was "stuck up".
One last point I would like to make that I had to learn the hard way....Just because we are Marines does not mean we are going to be given anything. Just like you earned that Eagle Globe and Anchor, you need to earn a Pro Staff position. Being a Marine or being in combat does not make you qualified and just like the Marine Corps, Avery only takes a few each year and usually those guys are the best in the business and they are Proud of what they are doing. The question you should be asking is what can I do to make myself a better candidate for a Pro Staff position.

The Avery Pro Staff makes up some of the best hunters and outdoors men in the country. I have worked and competed against many. You do not make the Avery Staff if you are not a professional person with a great personality and obtain the ability to work well with people. I have just joined the staff and I must say that I am very excited about working with Avery and the Pro Staffers. I find it hard to believe that you think that most of the staff is "stuck up" because they are certainly not!

treating people like crap? are you serious, they have been nothing but help, at least thats my opinion. have had chances to go out hunting with them and have had so many fun times out in the field with them. And for the thing about not being able to become a pro staffer, they take their time picking out people from all over the US and with all the applicants that go in they cant pick everyone. so your best bet is to keep trying instead of complaing about the people that actually made it.
