Hello, I have 2dz. nice mallards and pintails decoys. If you were to add something to make a real looking spread besides a spining wing decoy what would it be. (duck butts, no-head feeders, sleepers, goose floaters). I want to go with GHG products. I hunt alot of walkins and farm ponds.

I would throw in some widgeon and shovelers in for color. Also you can't go wrong with some duck butts.

To make it real looking, match whats in your area. Like if you dont get alot of pintail, then you could actually take some pintail decoys out of your spread and make it more real that way, but like I said before, match the hatch to the population that is around you. I could tell you to go out and buy 2 dozen ringneck decoys, but if they are not in your area its only going to add numbers to your spread and not to your bag. If you are going to go out and buy something then I would say you should probably get some green wing teal decoys or some widgeon, because they will add a different size to your spread and they will add color.

Although we only shoot a handfull of these around here, you should see an increase in visbility with the addition of black ducks to your spread. Even if you don't see any in your area, a few on the outside of your spread will help. The dark decoys stand out big time even on water from above.

I would recommend some no head feeders, sleepers, wigeon and shoveler for color. If you want to add some motion to the spread, I would definitely put the no head feeders on a jerk string. It looks awesome and adds realism.

I would add a blue heron or an egret. These are wonderful confidence, this was our first year using an egret decoy. Im not positive if it was the decoy or not but it seemed like birds finished alot faster with it just on the edge of our dekes. Ive been kicking the idea of Swan dekes around too. This past year for diver hunting we noticed across the pond (maybe 300yards) there were a pair of swans and the ducks seemed to glide right into them.
