I was looking at the Avery FFD decoys in MAcks praire wings and noticed that the FFDs are a lighter color then the progrades. Was this just the picture or are they lighter. If any one had any pics of either model i would like to see how light or dark they are.

Just the photo. The last few years we have made the decoys slightly darker, but the Pro-Grades match the FFD's in color.

I would have to say that it was just the photo. I actually think that the FFDs might be slightly darker than the Pro Grades, especially after they get some moisture on them.

They are correct...it is just the photo.

I have a spread of both. I definately feel that the ffd's are darker on the backs. Hope this helps you.

Good Luck

I have both, and the FFD lessers are darker than than the pro grades, it could just be the fact that the paint is the same color but the flocking on the FFDs just paints darker... I am switching my whole spread to 20 doz ffd lessers next year.. .Hope that helps.

The FFD's are darker, hope the photo helps a bit. FFD in front, pro-grade in back.

As stated they are darker than the pic shows. The Cabelas waterfowl catalog especially makes them look lighter than they are.

Look at the shine on that prograde...... that right there should answer anyones question of whether they should go with progrades or FFD's!

I see at least 3 different shades of color in those decoys. The looker (looks fine to me) is lighter as is one to the far back of you left hand. They must be different year models. I guess I expected them to be at least similiar in shade to the real thing. I know there is a lot of variation in color in geese but I have never seen any as dark as mine. No doubt it really does not matter to the geese as evidenced by your success. No doubt some will like the dark color and others like myself will not.

it also based on lighting. the light from the sun might make them look lighter or different colors from all angles.
