Vest Size

I know the great debate Vest, No Vest. If you are going to use a vest how tight or snug should it be? I have 2 Avery Boaters Vest in a Large and XL. My girl can wear both and the L is snug. I am not sure if it is too tight. It is the tightest in the chest area. How do I judge the fit?

In my opinion, the vest is better if it is snug rather than loose.

Be careful with the boaters vest being too tight because of the support in the boaters vest. It's reinforced, and will not allow any give.

I have tried a number of vests over the last four seasons and this year used two Boater's Vest on my lab and chessie. I really like these. Vests are just hard to fit! I have found that the ease of zipping is a good indicator of fit. If you trim the area around the "arm" pit so the dog doesn't get chaffed and can zip the vest without having to wrestle the dog chances are it is a good fit. If it too hard or too easy chances are good you do not have the proper size.
