Just wanted to ask you guys if ya'll use alot of coot decoys. I heard that it is awesome at attracting ducks. I have a friend that uses about 3 doz. of them on big open marshes along with 3 or 4 doz. mallards and wigeons and he swears by them. very curious before i spend the money.

I use Coots when I am hunting Widgeon. I usually place a few of them in and around my family groups of Widgeon decoys and along the shorline above and below our blind location. Seems to work well as Coots and Widgeon kind of go hand in hand if you will.

We hunt big open water lake's alot and we've used up to 3 dozen coots with only about a dozen ducks. It works well for us!

Yep. Its a good idea for shooting Redheads and Widgeon. Besides that it makes the spread a little different than the typical spread, and when birds get decoy shy, that is a good thing.

I know of several people who always have coot decoys apart of their spread when hunting divers. Those hunters that hunt Canvasbacks that I know swear that it is the key to decoying them.

If you do a search of coot decoys on ebay there is a guy that is having a great deal on them. I have bought three dozen so far and we use them on our local slough. I think they are $60 for 2 dozen weighted keel. I know they are not avery but they work well for fillers. Just an Idea.
