Went out for the last day with a friend, Gil from Northern Idaho. I found out Gil has never shot a woodduck and I took him to a place where we could hopefully get one. We had some land in the decoys 1 minute before shooting light. They were very content until I discovered my phone wasn't on vibrate  We had a couple opportunities but they weren't favorable shots.
We were still able to scratch a couple birds out of one of my favorite spots. It wasn't a barrel-burning, shoulder thumpin day but we definately could have had more. I feel guilty for never telling Gil to switch to his IC and #4s. It's just so hard hitting ducks with a terror choke and 2's at 10 yards :D.
We had a goose came in hot and heavy to the semi-active and sleeper goose decoys. It just about took my head off as it crossed from 8 o'clock to 2 o'clock, I thought for an instant it was an eagle in full-stoop for one of the decoys. Of course, when it came into full view, I just about wet myself.
I have never been a huge goose hunter just because nothing seems to get my heart going like ducks working decoys. Not even 400 geese juking and wiffling and cupping into a corn field, I'd just rather hunt duck, just my personal taste. I must say, however, that this was out of the ordanary, this guy came in like a duck, accelerating towards the LZ in a wing-tip to wing-tip cup, popping his wings out the last second before touching down.
Thief goldeneye was stealing my coffee. I had to kill him.

The tweeties were in great abundance and didn't seem to mind being on the business end of a shotgun barrel. One even briefly landed on Gil's muzzle... if he only knew.
