Today was the statewide TN Juvenile Waterfowl Hunt for 2008. I had patterned these birds and been watching them return to the same slough every morning this week.

Something decided to throw a loop in our plans today as we had no wind and not many birds. The day started with a beautiful sunrise out of the Ground Force blinds.

Our youngest hunter, Brandon Haney needed a little help in his blind, I think the tall profile of the blind may have flared the birds.
What could you say though, these kids were having a ball.

After no shot opportunities at ducks, the highlight of the morning was these geese working in nicely to the 4 GHG LS Floaters I had out and a young hunter crushing one on his first shot!

All in all it was very successful day. Our success today was not measured in how big a gamestrap we had, but rather how big the smiles were on these young kids faces and the making of memories that will last a lifetime.

Two happy hunters.

That is what we are looking for Cody, though the Youth Field Staff can and has killed lots of birds, this is the attitude that we should all take to the field each and every time we go out. Those kids may hunt for the rest of their lives, and it may well be because Cody Frazier went out of his way to spend the time and money to get them in the field. This is what we should aim to do on the Youth Field Staff, and as hunters in general, and Cody is setting a good example here!
