Waterfowl season is over and I'm thinking ahead to next year already. I hunt divers on one of the big Manitoba lakes each October and I want to replace my aging Herters diver rig. I hunted over GHG decoys in Arkansas this year and liked them so I'm researching what GHG has available in divers...but it's confusing. The GHG website lists no over-size divers but remarks "redheads coming soon." Cabella's website lists both GHG Canvasback and Redhead OS decoys, but drakes only. Cabella's lists Bluebills in life-size, 8 drakes and 4 hens per dozen. Cabella's also has their Real-Image brand Bluebills OS decoys, 8 drakes and 4 hens per dozen. Questions:

-Does GHG make oversize canvasbacks and redheads?
-If so, are hens available?
-Does GHG make oversize bluebills?
-Does GHG make Cabella's Real-Image decoys...they look very similar?
-Is GHG coming out with foam-filled decoys? My host in Arkansas was field testing some that were foam-filled.

Thanks,

GHG has O/S Cans, Bluebills, RedHeads, Goldeneyes, Buffleheads as well as L/S Bluebills. There are hens with the L/S but there are no hens with the O/S. The Real Image decoys are made by GHG. There has been some testing with foam filled but we haven't brought them out.

Thanks Wayne...that answers all my questions. I'm surprised GHG dosen't update the website to reflect their entire line. Also, it would be nice if they offered O/S can and redhead hens. At the time I hunt northern Manitoba, the birds are not very well colored yet and hens make for a more realistic spread.

Thanks again.

We have had a lot of request for O/S diver hens and it has been talked about. The O/S look aesome on the water.

There are also L/S Ringnecks which look great mixed in with Bluebills. They will look great mixed in with redheads of the same size. I hope they aren't neglected if GHG ever 'standardizes' their line.

JeffC,

I've hunted those Manitoba Cans up there around the first week of October and they come in just fine to nice white Bull Can Decoys!!!

Shot 8 Bull Cans over 11 little beat up mallard decoys a couple years ago!
Those birds are easy!

Trying adding a few buck Redheads to the Cans. That's what we do down here to darken up the spread.

duck at Webbedconnection (we hunt, too!)

I know that when we get cans there will be 10 drakes to every 1 hen. Maybe even more.
