On May 2, 2008 Avery Pro-Staffer Dave Weidner completed the final component of his Masters Degree in Public Health at West Chester University in Pennsylvania. Dave’s MPH degree has major concentration in the fields of environmental/occupational health and emergency preparedness. His course of graduate study included environmental toxicology, biostatistics, industrial hygiene, emergency management, and environmental risk assessment. Upon maintaining a 3.9 GPA, he was inducted into the Delta Omega Public Health National Honor Society.
During his last semester at West Chester he was a graduate intern with the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services - Exercise Support Team. The Exercise Support Team is responsible for the evaluation of Homeland Security exercises (biological, radiological, pandemic/infectious disease, explosive and natural disaster) throughout New Jersey. He completed his applied learning project by doing a public health preparedness assessment of New Jersey’s local health providers as related to Homeland Security Presidential Directive/HSPD-21.
