I see in the new DU Magazine that there will be rester/sleeper shells. How will they come, 4 pack or 6 pack? Are the heads interchangeable with the other shells?

Rick Frisch

My understanding is that they are going to come in 12-packs of either sleepers or resters. The heads on the sleepers are part of the body mold. They do not come off. The rester heads do come off like the other shells. These heads will not fit another decoys due the different size of the bodies.

thanks,

So the heads are not going to come off of the shells on the sleepers? That doesn't make any sense at all unless you are talking about a "tucked and buried in wing" head style sleeper. The sleeper pic in DU is the one where its head is tucked and bill pointed down towards the water and I have got to believe that this head will be removable because if it isn't then I can't see how these shells would ever sell due to their inability to be stacked. A true sleeper shell it would work for sure, but the ones pictured in DU...not a chance.

I think Rick is talking about the sleeper heads, not the rester heads. If I understand him correctly the shells will be stackable (including the heads). There used to be another one-piece stackable shell on the market, forget the name at the moment, I would really think that avery going this route has a winner. Super quick to set up and take down. I would grab at least 2 dozen of these. Hopefully the tails will be flocked too.

The mag sleeper used to be the one piece sleeper shell on the market. Pics of the one piece shell?? If Avery were to come up with a one piece stackable sleeper mallard shell it would sell like sunscreen at a nudist convention in phoenix.:D

The sleepers are the molded one piece shells. The Resters will have removable heads.

Wayne Radcliffe

They do stack real well. That's the first thing I tried when I saw the samples.

I got my Ducks Unlimited magazine finally.....are the rester shells just the floaters with the bottom cut out?

Wayne Radcliffe

The paint was fine and they are not floaters with the bottoms cut out. They have their own mold.

The heads are flocked aren't they? It looks like it in the picture but I'm just making sure. I'm sure they are, as I can't imagine Avery making another Canadian decoy without flocked heads. Looks great though!

Well I'm glad I hit the search feature and realized these are coming out for 09.

I was looking to pick up a doz. OS FFD' shells but I'll wait for the cheaper and lighter/smaller LifeSize shells.

Can't wait for them this fall.
I need help, our season isn't even over yet but yet I am making a gear list for next fall.

Yeah, I'm glad I am waiting for those LS FFD' shells

That last picture, damn, those shells look like real geese sitting on the ice. It could get ugly next year late in the season using these combined with fullbodies so I can put out more decoys compared to just using fullbodies when I have to carry stuff in.

Doug
Any pictures of the resters?

Pick this back up.

Those FFD shells are absolutely sick

How are they holding up????? Do you stack them right on each other with no problems???
