I have used hevisteel for geese and it works awesome! I'm sure it would work good on ducks too!

I have used it, and no I don't believe he means hevi shot.
There's hevisteel, hevi shot duck and hevi shot goose.
I don't know what to say other than they raised the price up to much for me, I will stick with Federal Premium or Winchester Supreme, feel I have the same performance out of these, but at a cheaper price.
I shot Fed. Premium 4s on ducks last year and had to wipe a few decoys off after that hunt, long range patternmaster, 4 shot, ducks at 10 feet equals a mess.
Then again what doesn't work at that range.

I tried some hevisteel last year on geese. Early season it worked great. But come late October we stared to sail a few birds and stopped using it. I'm going to patten it and also test it with some ballistics gelatin in a few weeks and then compare it to supremes and also hevi shot.
I will post my results when I'm done. I'm in the same boat, wondering what to shoot this fall.

If you want better than steel, but not hevi-shot and the likes...

I used it last year 3" #4's worked great on ducks at all ranges out of my browning. I am fixin to buy a case this year. I think it is worth the money not to have as many cripples.

Ive used hevishot and hevisteel I like both but at over $20 a box I just cant shoot it. I love kents I cant remeber what its called but the price is wonderful $14 a box and its faster than* hevishot, hevshot shoots at 1550fps and kent shoots at 1660fps so you do the math.*
Cheaper and faster I love it!

Heavisteel, Heavishot, Ultra Shock, Wingmaster HD; it's all great stuff. Man, is it expensive though. As long as I wait for them to decoy in, I do fine with the cheaper stuff, like Kent Fasteel.

I tried the HeviSteel three years ago and it didn't pattern very well. I think they have changed the crimp since then. It was made by Environmetal then Remington and back to Environmetal (I think). I stick with steel or Wingmaster HD.

i used hevisteel 3 inch B's for geese and they worked pretty good, although for ducks i like my winchester expert 3's

They did not pattern well for me & from my personal experience, they do not kill birds any more dead inside 40 yards than a well patterned load steel. Remember with and 1 1/8 ounce load of Hevi-Steel you loose significant pellet count (No matter if it's 4's, 2's, or B's.
If they pattern great at different yardages (w/ your gun & choke combo) then you should go with it. I wouldn't however buy a case (based on other peoples experiences) without a few paper tests. Good Luck!
Cheers,
Adam

Anyone pattern Hevishot yet? I just got a good deal on 3" #4's so I'm giving them a try. I heard you need to open your choke up. I shoot steel with Mod. choke.

I have patterned hevisteel #4 out of an extended PM, at 25 and 40 yds I get about 90% patterns, and the load flat out smashes birds to 40-45. I love it, but shoot federal HHV because of cost.

I shoot 3" 4's Hevi-shot from my SBEII. I use my IC choke all the time and kill birds at some amazing ranges for an IC I don't think you will be disapointed w/them.:D

I got four boxes of this when it was made remington and love it. shot it with IC and used 3'' 4's and kille duck to 45 yrds easy, and then got the new stuff and hated it, was crippling the and missing them passed 30 yrds, called Environmetal, and they said with the new wad system i needed Full choke. still opened up to much and tons of flyiers, paper testing.
It shot better and think i will be switching, i got two cases of HD for $50 a case after rebate and sale price.

FYI - I do not believe that Remington ever made HeviSteel.

Thanks Duhker, I didn't want to buy a cylinder choke. I'll start with IC. I didn't like the old crimps on the Environmetals. These are obviously different.
Yes, Remington made Hevishot for a period of time.

I thought that Environ Metal always made Hevi-Shot but remington paid to have their name put on the box. I am not 100% sure though.

I thought that Environ Metal always made Hevi-Shot.
That is Correct! The only company that makes or has ever produced "Hevi-Shot" is Environ-Metal, Inc. Remington bought the shot from them and then produced the shells for a few years.

Wingman is right. Remington bought the shot from them and then produced the shells for a few years. I was referring to Hevi shot as a finished product like it states on the box when you buy it.

I have used Hevi Steel for a couple of years now and have been very impressed with the results. I prefer #4 shot 3". I use a Pattern Master short range Choke Tube and I will drop birds up to 40 yards with them. It is a very good shell for the money.

I used Heavy Steel for the past two years. I love it. I have never had any problems with it. I started using it in Canada. I shoot Heavy Steel 1 1/4, 2's. Great for both Ducks and Geese.

I love Hevi Shot, just acn't afford it. I bought a case of Hevi Steel and compared it to a case of Kent Fasteel and a case of Winchester Supremes. Both the Winchester and Hevi-Steel out performed the Kent with a lot less powder residue. I also favored the Hevi-Steel over the Supremes and I have been slowly stocking up on Hevi Steel. I shot a lot of big honkers with Hevi Steel 3 inch B's over the past couple of years. I am going to try some duck loads this fall as well. For me, the Hevi-Steel really outperformed High Velocity steel loads in colder weather.
