View Full Version : Finisher Blind

I bought a new Finisher blind a couple days ago, and finally had the time to take it out of the box. It is my second blind, and as I really liked my old one (which I had bought in 2002), it was natural to get the same one when the time came.
That being said, I am really disappointed in the new one. Nothing seems to fit together right. With the foot end of the seat sewn into the blind, the seat can't go far enough for the velcro at the head to attach to the seat. The straps on the seat are already as loose as they can go and it is still near impossible to buckle. And I liked the old mesh on the flaps much better than the new stuff.
I know I'll probably get bashed for not liking the product, but as I stated, this is my second Finisher blind, and Avery should hear comments about their products from the consumers of the product. I am not a Avery basher, and own alot of Avery products, including a Quick-Set boat blind system. I am just giving my opinion on an updated product. I have been a member lurking here since 2004, so don't let my first official post here throw you off, and have you assume I have joined here just to bash a company..

Your comments are only from your personal experience, it's ok to voice an opinion. Now hopefully we can all throw you some input to help eliminate the situation. With the new one being a bit different than your old one, the one you are used to, I would try to get that seat set up before locking anything else together to maybe give you some more slack. Make sure your adjustable side supports are lowered all the way to give the fabric a bit more stretch, and make sure your corner velcros by your head are not done up before you fasten the seat, try to do that first after the headrest is in place, and try to slide the whole frame toward the boot bag. There's my tips, hope those or somebody else's gets you out of your jam.

and try to slide the whole frame toward the boot bag.
I notice that is one thing most people don't do. I catch myself not doing it when I'm in a hurry.
I hope Jeremy's tips help I think once you get used to the nuances of the newer blind you'll like it better.

Make sure to let us know if Jeremy's tips don't help. Maybe we can figure something out and that you are not doing.

Yes it should definitely fit together correctly, it is a little different to work together then your old one, but don't be afraid to put some strength into it, and get everything fit right.
I know getting them to fit correctly right when you take it out of the box is tricky, but once you get use to how it sets up, and how everything shakes together you should find it to be a better blind in the field.

The new ones fit together very well....
As far as the mesh, I like the new ones better than the old. You could hardly see a damn thing out of the old little tiny holes and basically wrecked your eyes trying to do it. The bigger holes on the new blinds make for easy vision.

the only thing i dont like about the new one is the fiberglass rod in the mesh that runs perpindicular to the blind at the very top. we ended up having to break it out of the new ones he got cuz neither one of us could stand it. It isnt very hat friendly....

You can always take it out, but you can't always add it in.
Jeremy's comments should fix you problem. We have not had this complaint before, so it has to be something with the set up. Keep us posted.
Thanks,

I will attempt to set it up with Jeremy's tips tomorrow, as I am working nights right now. Andrew, I hope your right.. I spent two hours trying to get things to "fit very well," and wasn't very successful, hence the topic here.
I guess I prefer the old tiny holes to the big "look at me" holes. I am not a large person and can easily turn over and follow geese behind our group. Actually, my group relies on me to do that, as I am the only one who can.. Just thinking the geese will be able to see movement and detect something not being right. The other thing is that it seems to rain whenever I am field hunting and the larger holes would assumably allow more rain in, correct? Something about that mesh just rubs me the wrong way.
I am not thrilled about the fiberglass rods either, but we'll see how much I like the new blind when hunting season starts in two months..

Jeremy stated...."Make sure your adjustable side supports are lowered all the way to give the fabric a bit more stretch,"
For my knowledge....shouldnt the fabric fit regardless at its highest setting as well? Hence the reason for it being adjustable. Am I missing something here?

You are correct. It is just easier to assemble the first time if the side adjustments are on the lowest setting.

Madganser,
If you are still having problems with the set up try and meet up with some of us pro-staff members at the events/shows around the area and ask one of us to set one up for you. See if there is anything different about the way we set it versus your method or ask some questions with while the blind is there in front of you. We are happy to help when we can that is why we are at the shows. As far as the big holes we hunted out of it last year with no problems the pattern still breaks up your face enough that the geese should not be able to pick you out the mesh is the same as found on the power hunter and it has definitly proved itself in the field. Good luck, and like I said if possible attend an event this year and come ask us any questions or concerns you may have about the new blind we' ll do our best to help you out!

I set it up according to Jeremy's advice yesterday after many delays over the last 4 days. Everything was pretty much already where he told me to have them, except the adjustments near the boot were on the middle setting.
I did get the blind to fit together, but still looks like I wouldn't be able to change the profile to the higher settings and make it fit together right. I will admit that I think I had the same feeling about the old one originally, so I will update this as I fix the blind up and use. Currently, it is outside set up right now with mud drying on it to help it blend in better. After that, it will receive natural vegetation when the hunting season is closer. So, in about six weeks or so, I will be adding that to it. If everything goes well, you can beat that I will retract my disapproval..

It is now after early goose season here. The blind does go together, but it still fits tight. I am happy with the blind, so don't take it as a complaint. I'm am sure I will like it as much as the old one.
