Nice Mr. Coats!

Me too.... I make a 150 mile round trip everytime I go which is usually 3 times a week. I've already tested my 07 Silverado... at 60 mph it will shift to only 4 cylinders and I can get 21-23 mpg, with a 15-20mph tail wind I've gotten 27 mpg over a 45 mile trip. With a head wind or push over 70mph I get sucked down to 15-17mpg. Looking like a lot of 60 mph trips getting blown by 80 mph interstate traffic. Over a 3 month span that difference can really ad up.

Luckily my hunting is close to the house and with diesel at $4.75 and climbing I'm happy the scouting for geese may be cut back alot. I know I could buy another truck but I wouldn't get anything less than crew cab and at 17 to 18 mpg the same mileage and another payment, I'm sacrificing the room. Plus mine's paid for.

Someone explain how diesel is more than gas???

We are at $4.75 per gallon for diesel here in Nevada and it is going to make it rough to put the miles on this fall and winter. Whether we are running in the trucks, ATVs, Rangers, or boats, we are going to be paying a pretty penny for it.

I'm looking at 3 bills every weekend...oh well.

Last year during hunting season (Sept-May), I racked up a $5400.00 gas bill...ouch! but it's not stopping me.

I'm thinking that it may leave a lot of people at home and take some of the pressure off?

here on the farm everything is diesel fuel its nothing to go though 500 to 800 a week. you need to pick a lot of tomatoes to cover that....

I work for the USDA and I think even grain prices are high they'll come down and you'll see a lot of farmers go out. It's sad to say but even with bumper crops and high prices they're profit margin has shrunk. Fertilizer cost are going up again after doubling last year.

I feel sorry for you farmers out there!!My dad pulls a trailer 365 days a year with a 06' F350 and he gets 13 in town w/o it and then the best we've ever gotten was with a tail wind going 75 and we got 18 on the highway. It's killing us!

Grain prices are horrible!!14 bucks for a bag of show cattle feed when last year it 7.......and then corn is up to 10 bucks a bag for 50 lbs.!

We put out over a thousand pounds a year of corn for deer..not this year
