Since my grandpa is a taxidermist I do all my own mounts with him so I can learn.

This year so far Ive mounted a new Hen woodduck on my woodie mount, and a hen blue wing teal. All I have now to mount is 2 geese, a snow and a blue, a Drake GoldenEye, 2 wigeons a drake and a hen, and a drake gadwall.

Got a

Pintail Drake
Goldeneye Drake
Mallard Drake
Canada goose

off at the taxidermist right now. Got a bluewing drake in the freezer that I'm on the fence on so to speak. It's a beautiful bird but I've already got one on the way and not sure I can afford to have another bird mounted at this time.

Right now I've got a late season Widgeon, Blue Bill, and Gadwall being done right now. All Drakes that I killed all in the same day. I've got a Ross goose and a Big mallard drake in the freezer and hoping to have myself a Sandhill Crane in the taxidermist by this October.

Nothing, a couple of my birds from last year got mounted though, a cackler that was 2lbs. and a hen mallard with a green head.

My buddies wanted them, so I said go for it, guess I haven't seen the mounts so maybe they didn't. I have a drake wood duck mounted, that was my first duck ever, and I have a drake Hooded merganser.

They both are sitting on the ground wrapped in plastic in a back room because they look like crap. Seems almost every mount I have ever seen thats over 2 years old doesn't look very good, they get dusty, dirty, and ratty looking.

Unless you put them in a cabinet or coffee table style mount, something where they are covered. That I could see myself doing, no more regular mounts for me though, really just doesn't seem to be worth it.

I have a hen Merganser in my freezer at home. Should have had her mate last year, but oh well. She can wait till this year for him to join her at the taxidermists.

Bull Moose at the Taxidermist.

Fallow Deer, Red Stag, Bull Tahr, Nanny Tahr, 3 Paradise ducks, Doe Fallow deer are on a ship somewhere in a crate on their way to the taxidermists.

C4L, I noticed that you said your mounts look like crap over time because they get dusty ect. To keep them in good shape you have to take care of them. Get with a taxidermist and he will teach you how to clean your mounts properly. Not that hard bud, for an investment such as mounts I would make sure they are taken care of. Its just like your house if it just sits and you never clean it, it will also look like crap and get dusy. Just look into it and take care of them. I hate to see good mounts in a basement cornor wrapped in plastic because you dont know how to take care of them. Have a good day, not harm intended just words of advice hope I didnt ruffle your feathers.

That antelope looks wicked. Doesn't look like he'd score very high, but definately a great looking mount on the wall. I would have had a hard time passing him up if he were in my sights.

Thats was my first antelope and it was hard to pass him up for shure. no he would have not scored very good. but im was not after the scoring at the time. He was one 14 1/2 something around that. My next one im going after it with my bow so we will see if i can hold off long enough for something bigger then this one. Thanks for the comment on him. im happy with him.
