Aright I ordered cabelas gang rig kit, http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0005746224290a&type=product&cmCat=SEARCH&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&QueryText=gang+rig+kit&N=4887&Ntk=Products&Ntx=mode+matchall&Nty=1&Ntt=gang+rig+kit&noImage=0
and I am wondering how you keep the clips from coming off the end of the line? Do you tie a not in the end or what?
Thanks

We hunt a lot of tidally influenced waters so we anchor both ends. The spring tension of the snap should prevent them from sliding. I guess I don't really know what it is that you are asking. Are you worried that the clips will slide down the line and then become free floating dekes? Please clarify and I can possibly be more help to you.

We anchor both end too. Helps with the river current getting everything all messed up. The clips for each deke should hold tight right on the line.

Yes, I am worried that the clips will slide out the end and then have free floating dekes. I didn't know that you anchored both ends.

You do not need to anchor both end, the clips will pinch the main line tight enough that they will not slip. If they do, tie a washer or something to the other end, the dekes will keep the line high and if one should slip, it will hit the washer on the end and stop.

Or tie a loop on the oppostie end and clip your last decoy right to the loop and let a deke be your stopper if any slide loose.

Another question, so when you go out to set out your dekes, do you drop your mainline, then go back and clip all the dekes on the line or do you clip the dekes on the mainline as your dropping the mainline off?

I attach the dekes as im dropping the main line. So then the line floats instead of sinking in the water.

I drop mine as I go. I rarely anchor both ends. It all depends on where we are hunting. If we need to make a pocket, like when hunting a cross wing, then we do for sure. Otherwise, it is easier for us not to anchor both ends, and we get a little extra movement from it.

perfect thanks guys. I will be hunting on the mississippi river, in the wide open. I just don't want to be chasing down decoys because of them slipping off the end of the mainline. For spacing, how many feet to you give between dekes? And for the drops off the mainline, 4ft a good length?

I use pre set lines from bass pro and 3 feet sounds good.

I run 90ft lines with 36" droppers.

how many dekes on 90 feet?

10-15ft each side for depth, so makes the line about 60-70 foot and set dekes 4 foot apart. So about 15-18 dekes.
