I just bought some hunter series decoys that were on sale at Cabelas. I have been using Avery decoys for the past 4-5 years, and at first I was kind of disappointed in the paint wear. As the years went buy, the paint seemed to get a little better, which was alright since the price began to increase. I sold my old spread when I moved so that I didn't have to transport it. I started with some hot buy shells, a little scuffed out of the box, but still one of the cheapest shells, not a big deal. Then I bought some pro grade lessers. They looked nice, but again paint damage out of the box. This weekend I bought some hunter series. They seemed to be in a brand new box, so I assumed they were new inventory at Cabelas, and there would be less of a chance of the paint getting damaged due to less moving around. I was very wrong. These are the most damaged decoys I have ever pulled out of the box. If the paint is so delicate, they need to find a better way to insulate them in shipping. I am NOT happy, in fact it really stinks. I am stuck with these decoys. The nearest Cabela's is over 2 hours away, and I won't be able to take the time off work for a few weeks. Not to mention, the season will be opening soon. Shipping them is always difficult and expensive. I'm afraid to be stuck with them. I almost ordered the new hardcores from Roger's, but with shipping they were basically the same price as the Avery's and I was making a trip to Cabelas anyway. I almost wish I had gone the other way. What are my options here? I have some photos of the damage, but don't know how to attach them. In my opinion, decoys should NEVER be damaged out of the box, especially if the prices are going up every year.
