Hello, all. Has anyone had problems with getting the Real Feet base to fit? I just bought a harvester pack the other day and noticed that 1) the heads were so tight I was almost not able to get them on and 2) I cannot get the Real Feet base to lock because the hole in the bottom of the body is just way too tight. Has anyone else had this problem or am I just supposed to pull out the Dremel and hope for the best? Thanks!!

Sometime you got to do what need to be done if the Dremel got to be use I would do it. I bought a pack of floaters and could not get the head on to save my life I ask Avery and they told me the soap thing and by heating the head but none of that worked so I just got some Gorilla Glue and glue them on I know that they will never come off but I don't need them to come apart.

Make sure the hole is clean of any loose or excess plastic. I usually add some silicone spray to the operating mech on the foot base to give it a smoother operation and that always works for me.

All good sugesestions! Remember these "plastic" bird replicas spend some very hot days in containers while they make the cruise to immigrate to our wonderful land of opportunity. And while Avery takes every precaution to prevent any changes in the decoys the tempreture can get extremly high on the boats and could change how the body was originally molded. You can try somthing as simple as putting the decoy in a sunny spot for while to warm them up or gently use a hair dryer to soften the decoys to reform the area. Normally the changes that occur are not extreme and can be fixed with little effort.

Hair drier is your best friend in this situation. I have used this trick many times in the past. Some decoys are just harder than others.

Dish soap on the base of the head always works for me.
FYI - the tolerances on these decoys are the way they are because of posts on this message board. Remember when they were loose? We took a beating right here because they wouldn't stay on.

Rick, what about a simple snap connection? Do away with the mechanisms all together, just a snap in or twist lock style would fix a ton of problems.

We thought about that, but the wear from taking them off and putting them on takes it's toll on the parts. They become very loose after a couple times and they didn't stay on.

Oh, well then, carry on...
