Does anyone have an easy process to keep lesser/ducks stakes seperate from the honker stakes? We have a bunch of the older stakes before they had the glow in the dark stakes and they all look the same. When we are setting out lessers, honkers, and full body mallards it gets to be a mess with the different stakes. I was thinking of getting some colored electrical tape but something with reflective would help in the dark in the morning.
I think we could just have two different colored stakes one group for lessers and mallards and one group for the big honkers. Any input would help. Thanks guys!

you can buy glow in the dark paint at craft stores... that would work

I was thinking about doing the same thing, but after going out the past couple of days and hunting in pretty tall grass, I don't think it matters much for me. I have all lessers with the exception of a half dozen honkers. A few of my lessers ended up on the honker stakes and vice versa and I actually liked that it got some of the smaller decoys up higher out of the grass.

I just put a zip tie around the top portion of the stake where it goes up in the motion cone. White ones for 1 type, black for another, 2 ties for yet another. You can also pick up the same type of reflective tape that comes on the new stands at about any automotive store,. It is an inch wide so I just cut it in half to make it last longer. Works good for my spread.

neon green is awesome! it shows up in the dark better than any other color too. just paint the white plastic part and make sure no other part of the stake get hit by the paint

I think some neon paint will be the easiest and cheapest solution. Thanks guys.

Curently, I have all long stakes for my Lesser and Honker FFD's and they are painted neon green. Prior to that, I spray painted the long stakes red and the short stakes orange to keep them seperated.

Use different buckets?

We tried the 2 buckets thing. We usually have 2 guys placing stakes and the rest of the guys setting decoys on the stakes. Then what usually happens is the guys hurry and get done with the stakes and everyone is flashing the stakes with flashlights to see what's what and they all look the same  . Then everyone gets mad and we end up having a sword fight with the stakes...in the dark
I think we will just paint them and be done with it :D .

Paint is the hands down winner for me..super easy to apply!

first i used different color electrical tape around top of stake. then i decided to paint the white part below the "L" on the stake different colors. I used flourescent marking paint. Orange for ducks, Lime Green for Lessers, Pink for Geese. One can of each color did all my stakes. It also makes them easier to find in low light situations. I did this with stakes and bases.

I know alot of guys keep the stakes in buckets but I keep mine in the bags with the decoys that way there is never any question.

We misted the top of the lesser stakes with a neon pink! It works great!

Here's a thought... "One stake for all decoys". Not my idea but just thought I'd bring it up ... again.
