I don't own any River's West gear but I have heard that it is very good stuff, and very waterproof. The bad that I have heard is that it is not breathable and guys really sweat when they wear it. I stick to gortex as it is breathable, as well all know it is not the most waterproof at times (heavy rain). On those days I usually wear two gortex layers. I really need my gear to breath as I portage a lot of gear to my hunting location. I hate getting hot and sweating then getting that chill when I cool down sitting in the blind.

I have a Rivers West Eider and I will tell you, there is NO better material on the market than the H2p material! Warm, windproof, waterproof and tear-resistant.... Simply unbeatable! I really like every detail about this jacket!... I just with I could get it in MarshGrass!!!!

I second that statement. Awesome especially on long boat rides. I think you will like the jacket. I would get one size larger than what you normally wear.

Awesome material!!!! Great bibs, jackets, vests and other gear. I have been using it for the past 2 seasons and I don't have any complaints. Also, if you do have any problems they provide excellent customer service and a lifetime guarantee.

Spud:
I don't own any Rivers West but two of my hunting buddies bought the Eider jackets last year. Both jackets were purchased at the same time at the same location and both leaked immediately. We were hunting in an absolute down pour the following day and they were soaked. Rivers West did replace both jackets with no questions asked. With the exception of that incident, I've haven't heard anything but good about their apparel. Obviously they have a good return policy with any defects.
Best of luck.

Gortex jackets are great but if you want one that will last, RW is a great choice!! I love them!!
