my friends and I have decided to spend the dollar and go to canada for the upcoming 2009 season next year and we chose and outfitter and chose saskatchewan, my question is simply this what time of year is best to head up there? we want to get into good black goose action and ducks as well and we like the cold and want to shoot birds with some color, we were thinking like the first week in october maybe the 2nd or 3rd week of october as well,

what do you guys think time wise?what time of year does Fred and his crew usually travel up that way? any input would be greatly appreciated,

strait- I have went up as early as the third week of September to the second week of October. We hunt within about 20 miles of where Fred goes up there. I have never had shortages of birds. One year we were there, there was flooding all over and the birds were not centralized. That made hunting harder, but, very rewarding. There is a ton of birds there. I think you would be fine going up early.
