Practical Product Uses: The one of the first things on a water fowlers list for most important tools that is a must are our dogs. As dog owners we will do whatever it takes to make sure our hunting partner is as safe and as warm as we are. With the line of dog vests offered by Avery that is no longer an issue. The spotlight this week will be of the Standard Dog Parka™ which was Avery’s® introduction into the dog vest Parka. Coming in at 3 MM thick, this is the vest most guys will run when the waters chill and the extra warmth helps the dogs comfort level. We also provide dog vests that include thicker neoprene, flotation devices attached and handles built in. The Standard dog parka™ is more of a sleek suit for the dog and has minimal bulk which can be helpful for those dogs that just don’t seem to like wearing a vest. I tend to use this vest in the middle stages of the season when I’m not quite iced over, but the waters have a good bite to them. Another use that is sometimes over looked is the ability of the vest to help protect the dog when entering the water where foreign objects under the surface of the water could penetrate the dog’s chest, or any other danger that the dog will encounter while pursuing game

Tips for Using the Product: The most important part of gearing your pal up with a new vest is making sure you get one that fits him properly. A vest that is too tight or loose can cause comfort and safety issues. (See Size Chart Attached). Once your pal has his/her vest, make sure you spend some “YARD” time with them to let them get used to working with their new vest so they are all “GAME” when the big day arrives.

Thats a great write up and very nice pictures!

How true on getting the dog some yard time with it, the first time I put one on my lab it was like Sat night at the rodeo but a few tosses with the ATB and he became used to it quickly. A good investment for hunting in cornstalks.

Does it have the same zipper as you had on the boat vest? I bought one at Sportsmans and not 2 hunts and the cold weather pull tab broke off. After talking to 3 other people they have the same problem.:(

You boys may want to look at this thread then also. I threw one vest away already guess I should have pushed more.

If you get the right size, there should not be so much effort that it will break, a common problem. I'm sure a zipper can break, I just have not seen it.

The zipper itself has been fine its the handle that is attached to the zipper. The cold weather pull tab as you guys call it. I don't expect you to do anything, I just know if it was my product. I would want to know what problems it was having especially if it was one of my selling features.

Thanks for the answers to my questions. Have a great season.

I have the standard vest and the boaters vest. The boaters vest is great, but on both, the vest gap around the shoulder area. I think it would be a good idea if they added velcro in that area that allows you to adjust the fit.

Just a thought.
