Had a great morning in the blind with an 85 year old gentleman today. A typical early season mixed bag of Teal, Mallards, and Ringnecks was broken up by this man telling me story after story of days gone by. This guy has personally harvested an estimated 75 Elk and has forgotten more about waterfowling than I'll ever pretend to know. An otherwise "routine" hunt was certainly otherwise as he commented on all the new "fancy" gear I use and I expressed equal interest in his classic calls, shotgun, and clothing...It was an honor to call the shots for this old time outdoorsman. Hunts like these put things in perspective for sure....

You know, the stories that are passesd on in a blind is what helps keep this sport alive. I love to hear stories from the good old day in hope I'll have stories to tell when I'm that age. Sounds like you had a great time.

I'd consider it an honor to share a blind with such an outdoorsman, tales of hunts gone by are always fascinating. I've often offered up a hunt to our local friends that have hunted this area for many years just to spend time with them. You never know when they will no longer be able to get to the blind. Way to go kevin, and great pics to capture the hunt!

Helluva post Kevin!
Look at the character in those fingers....bet that A5 killed semi-loads of ducks. When it's all over, all we have are those memories of the GOOD TIMES gone by!!
