The weekend started of EXTREMELY slow on Saturday and we only ended up with 12 birds between the eight of us. The birds seemed to be really decoy shy already... We decided to hunt some water for sunday morning and had a lot better results with a 3 man limit. It wasnt to opener we had hoped for but ended on a good note and i think we all still had fun. Here are some pics from the weekend.

Good job Connor, Those mallards have some nice color.
I never noticed any decoy shy ducks, they just bombed us and presented shots at 5 yards right in the hole.
Were you doing any calling? I never called at a single duck and that was the ticket for us.

Yeah Andrew we were doing a little bit of calling but i dont think that was the reason because we tried not calling at a few groups and they didnt show any interest and it seemed like if we called agressivly when the ducks were on the corners or a ways out from the decoys they would turn and come in the majority of the time. The birds were just acting wierd it seemed like...

Connor- how many decoys were you using?

We had success with tiny spreads, used 9 the first day and 5 the 2nd day.
