We were hard at it again here in Eastern SoDak. Saturday was a little rough for us, being turned down for a loaded duck field and then not being able to find the landowners for a honker filled silage field. We ended up hunting a back up field with about 100 ducks going into it. We figured that if they come in small groups we could have a good shoot. Well they came in about 3 groups and we managed 12 Mallards in two volleys, managed a few geese also. Needless to say we needed to find something more promising for Sunday.
Luckily we had a very good slough lined up for the next morning. High winds and an east wind made for very good decoying birds. Mixed bag- Mallards, Pintails, Widgeon, Gadwalls, Bluewings and Greenwings.
