North Zone Illinois

I am wanting to make the trip to hunt in the north zone of illinois was wondering if anyone could help me find a decent public spot to try

Im up in Lake county and there isn't much going on. Chain O Lakes state park has blinds if you have a boat....but it is a crap shoot if you can grab a blind or not. I've hunted the last 2 days at a state park in WIS..yesterday was good..today stunk.

so after searching this place. il. suck no offense. indiana, ohio, or missouri and ky all have more then this place every thought. not only that what hunting they do have has blinds all over the place. so free lance hunting is not really possible. i guess thats why southern ill is better in my mind and now i see why others told me that before.

No offense taken. If it wasnt for the Shawnee Nat. Forest. I think IL would be rated LAST for public hunting areas. It is total crap.

i take no offense...I live in northern il but am forced to hunt in southern wis which is close by or drive a couple of hours down south ..thank goodness gas prices are going down.

how is the shawnee nat forest hunting.. do they have blinds already set up or can you go in and just find a spot?

Not sure about Shawnee. I was reading the paper one day and guys were talking minus that we would last in the state. where are you at in N IL.
